AMAZING!
This was part of a photoshoot by Markus Klinko and Indrani, styled by GK Reid.
I could easily see myself translating this into a painting. Look out for this in the near future!
Onto zee updates!
I finished my painting last week, here is a photo of the completed piece:
I named it "Icons;" what could be more appropriate?
In order to create this piece, I found pictures of the activists/artist that I wanted to honor and I edited them to create clear lines to draw. Below are the edited photos and a panel comparison for each person.
The photo and Maya in blue.
The photo and Audre in red.
Sylvia in pink.
JD in green.
Along with this listing, I put up an older painting of a peacock I did about a few months ago:
The idea from the peacock came from a desire to honor my grandmother, who has been very sick for over a year now. When I found out her doctors wanted to begin hospice services, I was devastated. It took me a while to find peace with this news and her condition in general. Part of that process was painting the peacock. My first memory of my grandmother is from around the time when I was three and I came back from Puerto Rico with my mother and older brother to live with her. She had peacock feathers in vases all over her house, and I vividly remember a feeling of enchantment. I will always think of her when I think of peacocks, their feathers, and birds in general. My grandmother loves animals, especially colorful birds. :'-/
Finally, an icon for my Esty Shop is now in the works!
Spoiler: There will be a peacock feather involved, lol.
